But because we use them every day, they can accumulate dust or need small repairs. Cleaning them regularly can save you time and money in the future. Uncleaned appliances tend to use a lot of electric energy since these appliances need to work harder despite the dust preventing them.

Cleaning your appliances is also a way for them to perform better and to expand their lifespan. Cleaning them is also to make sure that you and your family are experiencing the best out of these appliances and to avoid potential health problems. Here are a few appliances you need to clean and maintain:

1. Refrigerators & Freezers

Refrigerators are one of the most bought home appliances. Study shows that 99.9& of households have refrigerators. This proves how essential refrigerators are. We need it to store and preserve our food, to keep our beverages cold, and keep our frozen goods. It’s convenient that refrigerators also come with their own freezer so you won’t have to buy a separate freezer.

Cleaning your refrigerator is easy as long as you follow the steps. First, you need to take out all the contents of the refrigerator. You can also remove any shelves that are removable. Second, take out all the frozen goods and temporarily store them in a cooler if you have one. Next is to unplug your refrigerator to let the ice on the freezer melt.

You can create the cleaning solution for your refrigerator by preparing a quart of hot water and add two tablespoons of baking soda. Mix them in a spray bottle and you can start spraying on the interior of your refrigerator. Wipe the cleaning solution with a cloth and make sure to wipe any non-removable shelves.

After cleaning the interior of your fridge, you can wait for the ice in the freezer to fully melt or pick them with an ice picker. Discard any water and ice from the freezer and it’s time to put everyone back in place.

2. Washer & Dryer

The washer and dryer combination is a miracle for all mothers in the world. It makes their laundry easier. We use these machines to clean our clothes but sometimes, these machines need to be cleaned as well. Cleaning your washer is easy. You may add four cups of white vinegar into the washing machine and turn it on.

After the cycle, pause the washer and let the vinegar sit for an hour. Scrub the top of the cycle with a microfiber cloth that is dipped in hot vinegar to easily remove germs and bacteria. You can also use a toothbrush to scrub small parts of the washer like the bleach dispenser.

For your dryer, you can clean the interior of your dryer using a cleaning solution composed of 1/2 water and 1/2 vinegar. Scrub the inside of the dryer with a fiber cloth and leave it open.

But the inside of the dryer isn’t the only part you need to clean. You need to clean the dryer vent as well. You can call a dryer vent cleaning professional to do the job since it will be a little complicated. Most people clean their dryer vent three times a year for the machine to run efficiently.

3. Vacuum Cleaner

Another frequently used home appliance is the vacuum cleaner. This machine is one of the first things that people operate in the morning. Vacuum cleaners are essential in our homes to remove dust and dirt on our floors and carpets. Using a vacuum cleaner is an effective way to clean the floor and it reduces any risk of allergy especially if you have a pet.

A number of people use the vacuum every day and those people need to clean their vacuum more often. They need to clean the filter and change the bag so that the dirt won’t stick inside the vacuum. Merely changing the bag and cleaning the filter is only for temporary cleaning so once or twice a year, you need to take apart the entire vacuum and scrub it clean. You can clean it with hot water mixed with dish soap and a cleaning brush.

Doing these simple cleaning tips will benefit you in many ways. Home appliances are made to give us comfort so let’s clean them regularly and give them proper maintenance for durability and longer use.
